"You know," Tom said, "I could crush you." He looked down at Elijah. "I could walk all over you, scrape you off the bottom of my shoes, and go on my way without a second thought. I could easily break you, demolish you, reduce you to little shards." He bent slightly, bringing their faces together, speaking slowly. "I could eat you alive."

Elijah stared up at Tom for a moment in silence, then laughed suddenly. "No you couldn't."

He put a hand on Tom's chest and pushed him down onto the bed, crawling on top of him.

"But I can."
